From August 21 to 24, 2025, a comprehensive four-day workshop on culture, language, heritage, and moral education was organized by Sherap Skyadtsal Ling Library, Thiksay, for the youth of Ladakh.
Dr. Sonam Wangchok, Founder of the Himalayan Cultural Heritage Foundation (HCHF), delivered an insightful presentation highlighting his significant contributions to cultural preservation. He spoke about the importance of heritage, the current state of its preservation, and the challenges faced in safeguarding cultural and natural heritage. Dr. Wangchok urged the students to become ambassadors of cultural preservation within their respective communities.
The workshop also featured distinguished speakers, including Geshe Jamyang Tashi, Venerable Thubten Palden, Dr. Lobzang Tsewang, Khenpo Lobsang Tsultrim, Shri Mipham Otsal, Shri Tundup Dorje Stakmo, Shri Harsha Tsering Nagarjiju, and Shri Shikhar Nigam, who delivered lectures on various related topics.
Participants included students from Ladakh University, Eliezer Joldan Memorial College, Lamdon School Leh, Ladakh Public School, Druk Padma Karpo School, and Government Higher Secondary School Thiksay.
The workshop witnessed active and enthusiastic participation from all students, creating an inspiring learning environment. During the concluding ceremony, students shared their experiences and the benefits they gained from the program, while also requesting more such initiatives in the future. Both the resource persons and participants expressed heartfelt gratitude to Geshe Jamyang Tashi and the entire team of Sherap Skyadtsal Ling Library, Thiksay, for organizing the event.
Dr. Sonam Wangchok assured his full support and cooperation to Geshe Jamyang Tashi through HCHF as well as in his personal capacity to continue promoting such meaningful programs in the future.
