Heritage Conservation and Restoration

Ladakh is dotted with various heritage sites like ancient temples, wall paintings, wooden carvings, ancient paintings, manuscripts, metal images, textiles, paper drawings, block prints and so on. Monument conservation especially the Buddhist stupas and wall paintings are some of the core activities that HCHF started and has gained momentum over the years. So far, HCHF has restored 60+ stupas across various villages in Ladakh and trained local masons to restore heritage sites.

Wall Painting Conservation

HCHF has also successfully completed five major ancient wall painting conservation projects in Sumda Chun Stupa (Sumda village), Takkhung Khawoche (Cave Temple, Leh), Chomophu Temple (Nubra), Bodhkharbu Gonpa (Kargil), and a painted stupa (Shara village).

Contribution for Stupa Restoration in Ladakh

The land of Ladakh is dotted with Buddhist stupas built by our ancestors and blessed by many Lamas and Yogis, but many of them are in an advanced state of decay. In order to preserve our legacy and spread love and compassion for all sentient beings to live happy, peaceful, and harmonious lives, HCHF has been restoring the ancient stupas. The Stupa Restoration Project continues, and we accept donations from well-wishers and devotees. However, at the moment, we don’t have the FCRA certificate to receive donations from foreign countries, but in India, you can transfer money directly to our bank account using the following bank details:
